LANAP™ Periodontal Laser Surgery
LANAP™ is changing the way periodontal disease is treated. The LANAP™ protocol is the only laser patented protocol to treat periodontal disease.
It is as effective as traditional gum disease therapy whilst being much more beneficial to the patient in the long and short term. LANAP™ means there is much less trauma to teeth and the gumline during the procedure, which in turn helps the mouth to heal much more quickly.

LANAP™ Laser Periodontal Gum Surgery can be broken down into a straightforward five step process:
- A perio probe helps Dr. Cortés determine the degree of excessive gum pocket depth. These measurements then allow her to identify the extent of diseased tissue and areas of bacterial infection.
- The LANAP™ Laser is then used to remove diseased tissue, while the heat of the laser kills the bacteria.
- Dr. Cortés will then remove tartar from the root surface. This is performed using an ultrasonic scaler and special hand instruments.
- The LANAP™ Laser is then used again to clean the pocket one more time.
- The pocket is sealed closed to protect against further infection.
